Mike’s story

I did not grow up in a Christian home, so I had a lot of catching up to do when Jesus saved me in 1993 at the age of 26. I was then privileged to have a mature Christian brother take me under his wing to disciple me in the faith. I thought everyone was discipled in this way but soon realized that I was the exception, not the rule. My ministry goal has always been motivated by this faithful brother and the principle found in 2 Timothy 2:2 The things you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, these entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others.

I was certified with the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors (NANC) in 2009 and have been counseling for 4-6 hours a week ever since. In my travels overseas, I noticed every church we partnered with desired biblical counseling but did not know how to do it. In trying to teach them, it felt like I was reinventing the wheel every time I taught. I met Wayne Vanderwier a few years later and he introduced me to OIC’s Church Leadership Training (CLT) program. I have been teaching that material ever since.

Sherry’s story

I grew up going to church every Sunday but did not understand the Gospel until I was 13 years old. I have been busily educating our kids at home since 1995. With young kids still at home, I do not get to travel with Mike as often as I would like but go as often as I can.
