Kent grew up in the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky. Though he was taken to church and made a profession of faith as a young boy, Kent pursued a lifestyle of sin and selfishness throughout his grade school years. It was not until his second year of college, at age 20, that, by the grace of God, he responded biblically to the gospel and became a genuine disciple of Christ.

Shortly after his conversion, Kent had a desire to study and teach the Bible. Just a couple years later, he met Molly at the church he was attending at the time, and they got married in July of 2015. They began having children almost immediately, and Lord has sanctified Molly powerfully as she has grown in her calling as a wife and a mother (now of three). Molly supports Kent in his ministry, is very active in the local church, and at times participates in counseling with him. She is currently working on her ACBC certification.

While earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English/literature and spending some years as a teacher, Kent ultimately desired the pastoral office and began to serve in his church to that effect. In June 2019, his home church (The Cross Church in Pensacola, Florida) called him to be a staff pastor. He currently serves full-time at The Cross as the Counseling and Discipleship Pastor. He was certified by ACBC in 2020, and completed his DedMin in Biblical Counseling at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2023. He hopes to one day become a fellow with ACBC.

While continuing to pastor, Kent looks forward to serving as a coordinator to the country of Peru for OIC. His dream is that the nation of Peru would be a self-functioning training and certifying hub in biblical counseling for the greater South American world.
