SERVE AS A MISSIONARY COUNSELOR

Thank you for considering sharing your biblical counseling skills with others in cross-cultural ministry! Don’t worry, we won’t put you on the proverbial pedestal but we do respect your calling and we’re grateful for your heart for Jesus and your willingness to serve. And if at some point you need some help to continue on the path, we want you to know we’re here for you as well.

My name is Sara Shannon, coordinator of this network of volunteer counselors. There are many passages that call believers to one anothering soul care. I’ve chosen to share Colossians 3:15-17 because it speaks to the peace of Christ, the ministry of counseling, and the highest standard.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as you teach and admonish [or counsel] one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

All of our counselors are certified and have significant cross-cultural experience either as relief workers, missionaries or both. Most are actively serving in other professions or ministries as well as offering their time to counsel. This may be as little as one case at a time, or for a limited season, or a few cases simultaneously on a regular basis. Counselors set their availability and scheduling individually. If you are interested in serving in this way, please read about our methods in our “facts about biblical counseling” and then fill out the form below. We will then follow up with an online meeting to get to know you better and answer any questions you may have.

God bless you,

Sara

Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.
~ Ephesians 4:15-16 ESV
