WHAT WE DO
Training Biblical Counseling Trainers Around the World.
Based on 2 Timothy 2:2, OIC teaches the principles of Biblical Counseling from the Word of God to faithful men who will train others also.
That statement may cause you to ask a very important question:
What do you mean by “biblical counseling?”
Concisely put, biblical counseling is simply the ministry of graciously applying the truths of the Bible to the challenges of life. We believe and teach that the Bible speaks authoritatively to every issue of life. More specifically, we believe that the Bible ultimately points people to a Person and a relationship – Jesus Christ as Savior and Redeemer. We believe that real change occurs when people learn to understand themselves and their problems in the context of a living, vital relationship with Christ.
Church Leadership Training Programs
We offer Church Leadership Training programs in Biblical Counseling to benefit and protect the churches we serve. Our target audience is pastors and/or elders. Other church leaders – deacons, teachers, ministry leaders, leaders-in-training, are welcome to attend with their pastor or with their pastor’s endorsement.
Graduate Academic Degree Programs
The Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling is designed for those who desire to enhance ministry or teach at a college level with a focus in the area of counseling. A bachelor’s degree from a generally recognized college or university with a minimum of GPA of 3.0 is required. The program requires 60 hours including Bible, Theology, Hermeneutics, Research Methods and counseling related courses. The courses are normally completed in five years. Students are grouped in to cohorts in a module format. Objectives of the program include a general knowledge of the bible, a core of counseling classes, and an understanding of a theology that is biblical. Students are also instructed in the methods of research and writing.
Introduction to Biblical Counseling Seminars
Who Initiates This Kind of Ministry?
Pastors and/or denominational leaders who desire to give their people an overview of biblical sufficiency-based personal ministry (and perhaps prompt a desire for more training) contact us to provide these fast-moving one-day seminars.
Who Should Attend?
Any and all believers! First, the leaders of the inviting church. Beyond that, our key audience is pastors of evangelical churches. Without denominational consideration, any pastors who believe that the Bible is the Word of God and sufficient to help people should be encouraged to come. And, of course, the key lay people in their churches should also attend. Finally, don’t forget the people working in para-church Christian ministry agencies, missionaries, ex-pats working in the area, etc. In other words – all the believers should be invited!
When Do These Seminars Take Place?
These seminars typically take place on Saturdays at the inviting/hosting church.
