Rod & Mary Huber
OIC Central America Multinational Coordinator
Region of Service: Central America
Central America is our current field of ministry. We have the responsibility of coordinating OIC’s Church Leadership Training Modules (CLT) in Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama.
Our work in these countries includes relationship building trips, seeking pastors and church leaders who agree to partner with OIC and helping to organize and prepare for the modules.
Rod & Mary’s Story
Mary and I were raised in Christian homes but married before we were saved. Four months after we were married, we witnessed an automobile accident that killed a man we had just met. God used this accident to convict us of our lost condition and the need for Jesus Christ as our personal Savior from sin and eternal death. Through our belief in the truth of the Gospel, we were given grace to repent and receive salvation. While working in OIC we have become more aware that the Gospel is essential for, not only our salvation, but for all the issues of our life.
My desire, as I approached retirement age, was to teach younger pastors overseas what I had learned throughout my pastoral years. One day I met with Dr. Wayne Vanderwier and asked him if there would be a place in OIC for Mary and me. Dr. Vanderwier graciously allowed us to share in this ministry. We continue to be amazed at how God is blessing this work to His glory. His church, the world over, desperately needs training in biblical counseling to combat the world’s promotion of humanistic values and philosophies.
It is a tremendous privilege to be part of an organization like OIC. Because of OIC’s priority to train pastors and leaders how to counsel biblically, the entire church body has the great potential of building itself up in love.
